Delbarton Chess Summer Clinic

This year the on-campus chess clinic will be led by National Master Merric Hu, a rising sophomore at Delbarton, and will be assisted by one supervising faculty. NM Hu is a competitive chess player with a peak FIDE ranking of #21 in the world and #5 in the continental in his age group.  Most recently, he won the 1st place  (Junior High Section) at the prestigious 2021 Greater New York Scholastic Championships. He has been trained at elite USA Chess Schools and has abundant teaching experience in group and individual settings. The clinic will contain lectures on chess principles, attack and defense, and tactics puzzle study.  And more importantly, students will be able to use their newfound skills in a USCF-rated chess tournament! Students will have fun getting their brains stretched and pick up a systematic way to approach chess seriously.
